Chris Soules Made 911 Call After Fatal Crash and Checked Victim's Pulse

The reality TV star who is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal traffic accident in northeast Iowa called 911 shortly after the crash Monday night. The measure, which would have blocked the release of Soules' call, died in the state Senate after The Associated Press and other critics argued it would harm the public's right-to-know.

The operator then told Soules that law enforcement and medical were on their way to the scene. Apparently, the reality star is to return to court for a preliminary hearing on May 2 in light of his charges with leaving the scene of a fatal vehicle accident that left one individual dead.

Authorities say Soules' pickup was damaged and that he left the scene in another truck before emergency responders arrived.

"I rear-ended a guy in a tractor", Soules, 35, says, trying to describe the two vehicles' location on a rural highway in Iowa. "A lot of people knew him". Mosher was transported to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, Iowa, where he was pronounced dead. So police had to get a search warrant to enter the home and arrest him.

Soules was released from jail Tuesday morning when his mother Linda Soules posted his $10,000 bond at 11:37AM, The Des Moines Register reported. Soules will also be subject to electronic monitoring.

He clarified that the blood was coming from the victim's mouth. Soules was scheduled to film something out of the country that was Bachelor related, most likely Bachelor in Paradise.

Soules' next court date is set for Tuesday, May 2 - a day after Mosher's funeral is apparently taking place. Additional charges are possible, but the initial charge against Soules carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.

"He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away", the statement reads. "His thoughts and prayers and with Mr. Mosher's family".

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident, according to authorities. At the time of Monday's crash, he was in possession of alcoholic beverage containers, according to court documents obtained by the Daily News.

The crash happened around 8:20 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Slate Avenue just north of Aurora.
