'People's Climate March' Takes On Trump's Policies On 100th Day

Bill McKibben

Hundreds of sister marches are also planned across the United States and around the world.

With temperatures expected to hit 90 degrees, the march is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. near the Capitol.

New Milford's event is hosted by Western Connecticut Citizen Action Group.

That's per The Washington Post, which initially reported that the site-which contains a mixture of plain-English descriptions of the case for human-influenced climate change, plus plenty of data to back it up-had simply been scrubbed from the internet.

"Now Trump's entire fossil fuel agenda is next, and we believe that the path forward is based in the voice of the people - which is expressed first and foremost through mass protests and mass marches".

The People's Climate March, which originated with a massive demonstration in NY in September 2014, picked a symbolically striking day for its 2017 installment.

Rhode Island's mobilization is a part of the national Peoples Climate Movement, which is having a march in Washington, D.C. tomorrow. In October 2015, the group focused about climate at the local level and organized 200 events. Additionally, Flynn was directly told in 2014 not to take money from foreign governments without explicit permission, but he took $34,000 in December 2015 for a speaking gala concerning Russian TV and more than $500,000 for lobbying on behalf of Turkish interests ahead of the November election.

That theme also applies to a rally in downtown San Diego Saturday, one of hundreds of climate marches planned that day around the world. Events are also scheduled in Greenwich, Hartford, New Haven, Wallingford and Ridgefield.

Marchers are expected to start gathering around 10 a.m.at Waterfront Park in front of the County Administration Center at 1600 Pacific Highway. "I, like so many parents and grandparents, want to leave a better future for my sons and for the families they'll have one day". A strong showing, however, can put our foes on notice: don't mess with our environment. To change everything, we need everyone.

"There's a lot of mutual energy that's reinforcing each other, getting people excited about these sort of common issues and common ways of protesting", Ley said.
