Microsoft's new mobile app enables Windows developers to test on iOS

Microsoft's Build developer conference got under way yesterday, revealing interesting information, such as Windows 10 is now on 500 million active devices, and the software giant has developed a wearable for Parkinson's disease suffers.

This also applies to Timeline-supported Microsoft apps running on your smartphone.

Microsoft is delivering this new feature as part of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, expected to debut in September. Xamarin Live Player removes that requirement and instead asks you for an iPhone and Visual Studio 2017 for Windows. This will encompass files, apps and even websites: Microsoft says it'll be as if you never left them.

Myerson highlighted several new features coming to the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

While it still feels somewhat weird to see three different Bash shells that all run on top of different Linux flavors running in parallel on a Windows desktop, this is probably as good an example as any of how Microsoft's relationship with its developers and the open source ecosystem has changed over the last few years. It's like having your PC and your phone finish each other's sentences.

OneDrive Files On-Demand will only download files when you need them.

- Clipboard: Clipboard is a fast and easy way to copy and paste just about anything between connected devices, whether you're on a Windows PC or your favorite mobile phone. It now seems that the Fall Creators Update is a chance for Microsoft to not only add that feature back to the update but also bring along the Mixed Reality environment so that it is ready for the public availability of the Mixed Reality HMDs later this year.

Microsoft's goal is to make developing on Windows a better experience than using a flavor of Linux.
