Apple is going to stop app developers from harassing you

Apple has rolled out massive update for its users

Apple recently boasted the App Store had paid developers $70 billion since 2008.

Apple is known to have an iron grip on what apps can or cannot do, however the policy for tipping was unclear.

In ExtraBITS this week, scam apps seem to be making big money in the App Store, iOS review prompts are becoming less annoying, Apple is positioning the iPad for a comeback, and the company has announced the 2017 Apple Design Award winners.

With Today's tab, App store editors will be pushing content as part of "Daily Stories" with a new app and game featured as the App of the day along with new lists and other content.

Tencent's WeChat instant messaging platform shut down the tipping function of its apps in the Apple Store in April, after failing to reach an agreement with Apple on the issue. That particular app was questionably called "Mobile Protection: Clean & Security VPN" and was ranked number 10 in the top grossing productivity apps section of the store.

The VPN app offers to "auto scan duplicated contacts, merge or delete", as well as a full scan which will "scan for dupplicate (sic) name, phone, email, no name, no phone, no email". Apps may add in-app purchase currencies for tipping purposes, but Apple will get 30% as commission. They have been around for years (not just a few weeks) and have built up a loyal customer base thanks to their fast connections, secure encryption, and a wide range of overseas servers for users to choose from. So I check Sensor Tower for an estimate of the app's revenue, which showed... "But after this article went viral, Apple took down the referenced apps quickly".

The video proves that Apple should encourage developers to create challenging apps that will never be allowed in the App Store, and support jailbreaks, at least in some unofficially capacity.

In-app tips have generated controversy for Apple, particularly in dealing with app developers from China. To earn that amount the app would only need around 200 subscribers. The app, which is just a very basic QR code scanner, aggressively pushes users to agree to a $0.99 weekly or a $4.99 monthly subscription (why the monthly rate costs more than a four-week subscription is beyond me) in order to use the QR code scanner.

Even better than that, the app developers themselves will be able to figure out how much the content creators get out of that tip money.
