China will take the lead as Trump scores climate change own

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will be in New Zealand next week

Gov. Mark Dayton announced Monday that he has signed onto the U.S. Climate Alliance, a coalition launched last week when Trump announced that he plans to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate accord.

On Sunday's episode of "Last Week Tonight", host John Oliver delved into President Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement.

The countries that remain committed to the 195-nation Paris agreement have little incentive to give a better deal to the United States, the world's second-biggest polluter.

Haley voiced support for Trump saying business could not be run under the kind of regulations imposed by the Paris Climate deal.

Amid furious worldwide criticism of Trump's decision on Thursday to quit the Paris climate agreement, White House spokesmen had refused on Friday to say whether the president even believed the climate was changing.

The Justice Department will take the first legal steps in the "next several weeks" and the U.S. will immediately halt contributions to the UN Green Climate Fund, Pruitt said.

When asked why the USA pulled out of the climate agreement, Haley blamed former President Barack Obama for agreeing to regulations that were "too onerous", too strict and ultimately unachievable.

"The signers all understand that the Paris Agreement is a blueprint for job creation, stability and global prosperity.to create jobs, spur innovation, promote trade and ensure American competitiveness", they said in a statement. "I think they applauded because they knew it would put this country at a disadvantage".

"This is a very clear message that the USA is no longer a partner for Pacific states but who do they look to?"

He said MA will continue its commitment to exceed the emission reduction targets of the Paris compact.

Haley's comments are the closest acknowledgement by an administration official since Trump took office that the President, who has called climate change a "hoax" on multiple occasions, believes global warming is occurring and humanity has a role in it.

When asked in November if he believed human activity was connected to climate change, Trump acknowledged that there is "some connectivity".

Responding to a question on global reaction to Trump's decision, Haley said countries should continue doing what's in their best interest. "He is absolutely intent on making sure that we have clean air, clean water, that he makes sure that we're doing everything we can to keep America's moral compass in the world when it comes to the environment", she said.
