CNN fires comedian after Trump stunt

The Latest: Melania Trump says Griffin video 'simply wrong'

Tuesday, Tapper condemned Griffin's photo-which featured the comedian holding a severed Trump head covered in blood. "That line is not real and if you step out into that spotlight and you're doing the insane things that (Trump) is doing, we're the last line of defense". And really, the comedians are the last voice of truth in this whole thing.

"Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself", Trump wrote on Twitter.

"Oh man, I got nothing to say".

Griffin has apologized for the video.

Griffin has since been fired from her co-hosting gig for CNN's New Year's Eve program, along with a deluge of condemnation from across the political spectrum.

'I think it is the job of a comedian to cross the line at all times, ' said the Mask star, adding 'because that line is not real'. "I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus".

But she seemed genuinely remorseful when she said in a Twitter post, "I am sorry". "I won't give away what we're doing, but Tyler and I are not afraid to do images that make noise".

Despite Kathy Griffin's beheading President Trump stunt ending in total disaster, as well as an exercise in bad taste, Sen. "Kathy's honest reaction was, 'We're gonna have to move to Mexico because they're gonna put me in jail'".

Despite the widespread criticism he's received for his recent work with Griffin, Shields, 35, appeared unfazed when asked Wednesday night for comment on the matter and how the uproar over the photo shoot ultimately cost Kathy her job as CNN's New Year's Eve show host.

Griffin has since issued a public apology, conceding that the photos were "too disturbing".

"I told her there is no place in our discourse for an image like this". But reports of what she said drew fire from many, including Catholic League President Bill Donohue, who called it a "vulgar, in-your-face brand of hate speech".

"I am sure there is a line, I have just never seen it."

A film director, Robby Starbuck, tweeted, "I always try to be polite to people on here but this is a bridge too far".
