Trump tweets reaction to Comey hearing: 'Complete vindication'

Trump says US committed to NATO's Article 5 on common defense

"Do we ever go back and say, how about paying the money from many many years past?" said Trump.

"I'll tell you about that sometime in the very near future", Trump said.

Speaking beside Iohannis, Trump suggested his pressure on other North Atlantic Treaty Organisation members had had an effect.

US intelligence agencies have said there is clear evidence of Russian interference.

US President Donald Trump punched back Friday against James Comey, accusing the ousted Federal Bureau of Investigation director of lying about their private conversations - and saying he is "100 percent" willing to testify under oath. Rather, Kasowitz said, Trump felt vindicated that Comey told him on several occasions that the president was not personally a focus of the investigation, an assertion Comey appeared to back up in his testimony Thursday to the Senate Intelligence Committee.

"Frankly, James Comey confirmed a lot of what I said", Trump said, "and some of the stuff he said just wasn't true".

"I didn't say that", Trump said.

But Trump's comments reflected a highly selective reading of Comey's testimony, much of which painted a damaging picture of the president's conduct.

A defiant President Trump on Friday accused ousted Federal Bureau of Investigation chief James Comey of lying under oath - declaring that he never asked him for a pledge of loyalty or to drop the probe into his ex-national security adviser.

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Donald Trump says he's willing to testify under oath about his conversations with the man he fired as Federal Bureau of Investigation director. He added: "Oh you're going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer, don't worry".

Trump concluded his team emerged "very happy" after Comey's testimony.

Trump has remained relatively media shy since the Justice Department tapped former FBI Director Robert Mueller to be the special counsel looking into Russia's meddling into the 2016 election and the Trump campaign's possible ties to it. "You can't just do what we've been doing in the past".

But Comey's testimony about the President has darkened clouds hanging over the White House. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the committee, both said Thursday they believed Comey's account of the events. But, she said, he was wrong to leak his notes to the public and should have given that document to her panel.

Trump abruptly fired Comey as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on May 9, later admitting that the Russian Federation probe was on his mind at the time.
