Canada should replicate leaked United States climate report, expert recommends

UN officially notified of US intention to withdraw from Paris climate pact

Climate change is real, Mr, President, and it's time to admit it and address it. "No alternative explanations" such as weather cycles or excuses about faulty data make sense, the report indicates. In the case of climate scientists, the reason for calling greater public attention to a compilation of climate-science studies was to prevent suppression or heavy editing from the Trump administration's horde of climate-change deniers. Scott Pruitt, who is in charge of the environmental protection agency, has said, "I think that measuring with precision human activity on the climate is something very challenging to do and there's tremendous disagreement about the degree of impact".

Among the findings of the report, the scientists state that climate change is indeed driven by human activity. Meteorologists have recorded increasingly warmer temperatures since the 1960s, and heat waves are now more common than streaks of stinging cold weather.

"It was uploaded to a nonprofit internet digital library in January but received little attention until it was published by The New York Times", the corrected NYT article reads. The report, however, is yet to be approved by Trump administration.

Even if society immediately stopped emitting greenhouse gases, the world temperature is still predicted to rise an additional 0.50 degrees Fahrenheit by about 2100. Sea levels are rising, and oceans are becoming warmer and more acidic. At the same time, heavy precipitation events in the US have increased in both intensity and frequency since the beginning of the 20 century - especially for the Northeast. Trump announced the United States' withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement, a 2015 global accord committing almost every country in the world to cut its greenhouse gas emissions.

Scientists said in the report that human interaction has a direct correlation to the impact of climate change, a notion Mr. Trump once said was "a hoax" created by China.

The study finds that the average temperature in the U.S. has been rising quickly since 1980, and that it is now hotter than any other time in the last 1,500 years.

Hayhoe also said anyone who wanted access to the draft could still request a copy from the National Academy of Sciences. But the rise is expected to be much bigger towards the latter part of the century - by 5.0 degrees F (2.8 degrees C) with lower emissions and, by a whopping, 8.7 degrees F (4.8 degrees C) with higher emissions.

"This is simply an attempt by The New York Times just to undermine the success that we've had on this side of the aisle", said Dr. Gina Loudon of the claim that Pence's team is running a 2020 presidential "shadown campaign". It projects a near-term rise of temperature in the USA by 2.5 degrees F (1.4 degrees C). Atmospheric scientist Ryan Maue pointed out the study has not been delayed, and the government only recently began looking for scientists to review the draft report.

As for the Paris Climate Accord, 196 different countries agreed to adopt green energy sources, cut down on emissions and limit the spike in global temperatures.
