Indian Army foils China's incursion bid in Ladakh

The IT ministry has given time till 28 August to all smartphone manufacturing companies to furnish their responses a senior official said

Indian border guards yesterday foiled an attempt by Chinese soldiers to enter Indian territory in Ladakh, resulting in stone pelting that caused minor injuries to people on both sides. The Chinese then began pelting stones at the Indian side.

These comments attributed to the Ministry of Defence and the Army came hours after Indian and Chinese soldiers were reportedly involved in an altercation in the Pangong Lake area, further raising tensions between the two countries.

She said the People's Liberation Army (PLA) troops always patrol along the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). However, on both occasions, the attempts were rendered null and void by the Indian troops. China has also said that it was not aware of reports of PLA soldiers entering Indian territory along the banks of the Pangong Lake in Ladakh.

The United States is "encouraging" India and China to "have direct dialogue" to resolve the Doklam standoff, US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said.

Earlier, the USA had said that it was closely following the border standoff. "These things happen every summer but this one was slightly prolonged and more serious but no weapons were used", a police source in Srinagar told AFP.

"The Chinese patrol refused to move when the Indian side first showed banners that they were in Indian territory, as per the settled drill".

Due to the Doklam standoff, Beijing this year didn't hold a BPM on PLA Day either.

India says the area belongs to close neighbour Bhutan, but Beijing says the area belongs to it and has asked India to stay out of its boundary dispute with Bhutan.

Meanwhile, the Army has also issued a statement saying that India's 70th Independence Day on Tuesday was "well celebrated all across border areas". The report also said the new decision marks a shift from past U.S. governments policies and it will replace the dialogue format between foreign and commerce ministers of both countries started by Barack Obama administration.
