Taylor Swift's social media accounts go dark

Taylor Swift Blacks Out Her Website and Social Media Accounts: Is New Music on the Way?

"TAYLOR SWIFT IS COMING", one Twitter user wrote. Years of status updates, tweets, and photos have been erased from every platform, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr.

Taylor Swift blacked out her website and social media accounts on Friday, August 18, sparking speculation that new music is imminent.

Some fans speculated yesterday that Swift, whose last album was the best-selling 1989 in 2014, may be clearing out her accounts before releasing new music. If Swift does indeed drop a single soon, look for her sixth studio album to be out later this fall if she follows the same record release schedule as she's stuck to in the past.

Sometimes you just need a break from social media, so you leave your phone behind and spend hours doing whatever doesn't involve notifications.

The singer has kept a low profile outside of the week-long trial, which has also fueled hopes from her followers she's been hard at work on an album.

"All Taylor Swift's social medias are like this".

Swift also unfollowed everyone from her accounts.

Her next album has been teased for like, two years now.

Anticipation for new Swift music is running high.

With a high-profile court case out of the way, Taylor Swift appears poised to launch her next chapter: A new album.

A rep for Swift did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Fans, however, say this isn't "like her" and that they don't think she was hacked, but rather is planning a calculated publicity move.
