Prime Minister Modi and Myanmar's State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi discussed the security situation prevailing along the long land border and maritime boundary.

- The MoUs include one between the Election Commission and Union Election of Myanmar, the national level electoral commission of Myanmar.

"Together we will ensure that terror is not allowed to take roots in our country, on our soil or in our neighbouring countries", she said, adding that peace and stability were most important for development.

Rasheed said: "It is shameful and unfortunate that Aung San Suu Kyi who was seen as an icon for her constant fight to uphold democratic traditions and human rights has changed her colors so quickly and is justifying the ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Myanmar". He said India shares Myanmar's concerns over "extremist violence" in the Rakhine state, especially the loss of innocent lives of the people and the security personnel.

India has additionally promised the Burmese government of it's intention to open two Industrial Training Centers to aid developmental activity in Myanmar.

Geographically, Myanmar is the first stop for India's Act East policy.
