Temple Community Shaken Up By Student's Murder

Temple Student Jenna Burleigh Missing

Police on Saturday affirmed that Burleigh's body was found in Paupack Township, Pennsylvania, a town around 140 miles north of Philadelphia.

As police continue their investigation into the murder of 22-year-old Jenna Burleigh, the Temple University community is trying to come to grips with what happened.

Philadelphia police said Sunday a body found on property belonging to Hupperterz's relative was identified as Burleigh.

Hupperterz was charged with murder, and faces charges of possession of an instrument of crime, evidence-tampering and abuse of a corpse.

And when she told him she played soccer, she said he told her that his father was a professional soccer player and that Hupperterz himself used to play for the Temple men's soccer team. According to a Philly.com report, police found blood, large quantities of drugs and cash in Hupperterz's North Philadelphia home near the pub.

State police at Honesdale assisted Philadelphia police and the FBI with the current investigation.

"This really strikes home for you, particularly, thinking about the heartache and the grief that those parents must be going through right now", said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross, adding that he also has a 22-year-old daughter. Burleigh's body was discovered at his grandmother's Wayne County home more than 100 miles away.

A Times-Tribune story reported that Hupperterz, who was 25 at the time, broke into a Taylor Avenue home in Scranton in July 2013 and tried to steal a half keg of beer from a shower stall, among other items.

He later allegedly told police that he was too drunk to remember who she was.

In a Facebook post shared Saturday, Edward Burleigh called his daughter a "beautiful angel" who is now in heaven.

Burleigh had just transferred from a community college in Florida to Temple to start classes in film and media, hoping to one day become a filmmaker.
