Harry Styles, Miguel set for Victoria's Secret China show

It was not immediately clear whether Hadid had been denied a visa.

However, executive producer of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Ed Razek, told People magazine that Styles had "signed on" to the show months ago before Perry was denied entry to China.

It resulted in the model's Instagram account being flooded with comments, including warnings for her to stay out of China.

The ensemble caused intense backlash, as the sunflower has become the adopted symbol of anti-China protesters one year prior.

Although Taiwan is part of the Republic of China, the island country has a separate internal government from the People's Republic of China, where the fashion show will be held. During her performance, Katy also waived the Taiwanese flag in support.

This controversy isn't the first to impact the fashion show.

After it was revealed that Gigi Hadid had pulled out of the show, Page Six is now reporting that Katy Perry, who was rumoured to be appearing at the famous fashion show, has been banned indefinitely from China. It was speculated that she was unable to get her visa after a video of her squinting her eyes while holding up a Buddha cookie resurfaced when she announced that she would be headed to Shanghai. In February the USA model posted a video featuring her pulling a narrowed-eyes expression while holding a small Buddha.

But Hadid isn't the only model facing setbacks.

The pop star has reportedly been banned from getting a Chinese visa ahead of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai, China, where she was expected to perform, reports Page Six.

Plus, on Tuesday, Fashionista reported that Julia Belyakova, Kate Grigorieva, and Irina Sharipova of Russian Federation and Dasha Khlystun of Ukraine have all been denied visas to travel to China.

It's unclear why Victoria's Secret thought hosting a lingerie show in Shanghai, China, was a good idea.

But he added: 'This will, without question, be the biggest fashion event in history and our most ambitious show by far. Last year, Angel Elsa Hosk notably wore a dragon on the runway, which many thought turned Chinese culture into a literal costume.
