"I should have left UCLA players in jail": Trump fires back

Donald Trump

Two days after LaVar Ball, father of detained UCLA player LiAngelo Ball, downplayed President Donald Trump's role in the return of three UCLA men's basketball players detained in China, the president fired back. Like I told him, 'They try to make a big deal out of nothing sometimes.' I'm from L.A.

The kids, LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill, all made reference of thanks to Trump at a news conference held once they were back in the US, but obviously that is not enough to the Orange Mound of Hair and Lies.

During a Wednesday press conference, the teenage players, themselves, issued apologies for their behavior and thanked everyone involved for helping to resolve the matter and bringing them home, including President Trump.

LiAngelo and his teammates were arrested last Tuesday for allegedly shoplifting near the UCLA team's hotel in China, and there were rumors they could spend up to 10 years in prison.

One of the players, however, is the son of LaVar Ball, so obviously somebody had to ask him what he thought about Trump. "Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out", he continued. Don't tell me nothing. On Tuesday, the players returned home to the USA on Tuesday. "Be careful, there are many pitfalls on the long and winding road of life!" he wrote on Twitter. Donald Trump vs. LaVar Ball is the new rivalry of the future.

However, by Sunday remarks LaVar Ball made on ESPN Friday caused the president to change his tune.

"As long as my boy's back here, I'm fine", he said. All three players were suspended from the Bruins basketball team indefinitely. "I'm happy with how things were handled. I've seen a lot worse things happen than a guy taking some glasses".

Fredricka Whitfield spoke with Stelter this afternoon on how "the way this President prioritizes is very confusing to a lot of people".
