Chelsea boss Conte reiterates transfer stance: Give me players!

Willian opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and it was not until Dan Gosling equalised in the final seconds of regulation time that it looked like Chelsea would not secure a narrow win inside 90 minutes.

Alvaro Morata's booking in Chelsea's 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Bournemouth means the striker will miss the side's upcoming clash with Everton through suspension. "I have had good and bad times against them", he said, in quotes reported by the Evening Standard.

He added: "It was important, because to go and to play 30 minutes more, I think it was a bit risky".

"'After one minute and 40 seconds the ref chose to book a player who is 17 years old".

Conte said: "To play 30 minutes more would have been a bit unsafe".

He was booked after just the first minute of the game, but admirably kept his head above water in the quarter-final fixture.

Chelsea will play Arsenal in the semi-finals, hosting the first leg in the week commencing 8 January.

Ampadu, also used once from the bench in the Premier League this term, produced another solid display in the centre of defence despite walking a tightrope for 88 minutes.

"This game is very important for us - the last game before Christmas and I'd like to spend a good Christmas with a good win". But he showed great maturity and personality.

"Maybe next game, he'll go to play for the youth league".

"He has to show me that he's better than Morata, or than Hazard", Conte said.

"You have to play 93 minutes with this danger. We have to accept the decision and try, at the same time in the future, to pay great attention", he added.
