Michael Flynn`s actions during the transition `were lawful`: Donald Trump

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's plea deal Friday with President Donald Trump's former national security adviser signaled that Mueller is closing in on senior officials of the 2016 Trump campaign, heightening the conflict between the two leading players in America's post-election Russian Federation drama.

On Twitter, the president contends that Flynn's actions during the transition following the 2016 election "were lawful".

Dec 29: Following the sanctions, Flynn is advised by another Trump official that the team does not want to escalate the situation.

Trump's tweet was delivered while he was in a motorcade in midtown Manhattan heading to a fundraiser.

Trump, en route to NY for a full day of fund-raising, stressed that there was "no collusion" between his campaign and the Russians. But, given Strzok's role in this investigation as well as others, it more likely will only increase speculation that the FBI is not acting honestly.

Court documents said that Flynn spoke to Kislyak about a then-pending United Nations Security Council meeting on whether to condemn Israel's building of settlements.

Flynn left the White House in February, only acknowledging that he had given an incomplete account to Mr Pence of his conversations with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

Brushing aside an ongoing Russian Federation probe, President Donald Trump reveled Saturday in the Senate's passage of a sweeping tax bill, predicting with swagger that he and his fellow Republicans were "unbeatable".

Steve Vladeck, a CNN legal contributor and professor at the University of Texas Law School, said Trump's tweet "certainly implies that, at the time the President fired then-FBI Director Comey, he knew that Flynn had committed a felony". The key question now is what Flynn knows that could incriminate others and what he might have offered in exchange for such a lenient plea deal.

President Trump tweeted "I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the Federal Bureau of Investigation". That unnamed aide is believed to beTrump's son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, according to a lawyer briefed on the matter to The New York Times.

Trump was much more content Saturday to talk to reporters about the taxes after Senate Republicans delivered him a rare legislative victory early Saturday morning, passing the sweeping tax plan they'd written hours earlier in a partyline vote.

The text messages showed Strzok and Page reacting with anti-Trump sentiments to certain news events, including the presidential debates.

"Oh my god, he just admitted to obstruction of justice", former Justice Department spokesman Matthew Miller tweeted.
