Cleveland Browns officially announce front office additions of Eliot Wolf, Alonzo Highsmith

Defensive MVP LB Blake Martinez

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports that the Browns have hired Wolf as assistant general manager on a four-year deal.

That's what it seemed like Eliot Wolf's situation was with the Green Bay Packers, right up until they passed over him for Brian Gutekunst. However, there was a sense that he would depart from the organization after not getting the general manager position. Like Dorsey, Highsmith is a former player who went into scouting with the Packers.

Ken Kovash who has served as vice president of player personnel for the last two seasons with the Browns, will transition to a vice president role in the club's strategy department.

As a part of the team's front office shakeup, the Browns also parted ways with former Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson, who had spent the past season as a senior personnel executive in Cleveland. Alonzo and I share the same passion for this great game of football. He was a college scout for 13 years until he was promoted to personnel executive in 2012. Eliot grew up in Green Bay and followed his father into the business. He's been a big reason for the consistent success the Packers have experienced over the last decade.

McCarthy is also filling several assistant coaching vacancies, including both the offensive and defensive coordinator positions.

Gutekunst has been Green Bay's player personnel director for almost two years, though he has been with the Packers' player personnel department for almost two decades. The annual NFL Scouting Combine begins in late February, about two weeks ahead of the March 14 start of the league year and free-agency period. All three have experience working in the personnel department from their time together with Dorsey in Kansas City with the Chiefs.
