Elon Musk proclaims an early February launch plan for Falcon Heavy

Elon Musk's rocket company SpaceX relies on personnel from the U.S. Air Force's 45th Space Wing to perform tests and other operations related to its giant Falcon Heavy rocket. The 45th Space Wing tweeted on Monday that the shutdown would'disrupt the

The demonstration flight will lift off from the historic Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center, the same launchpad that hosted the Apollo missions as well as multiple space shuttle missions. "Easy viewing from the public causeway", founder and CEO Elon Musk tweeted.

America's SpaceX company has conducted a key test ahead of the maiden flight of its new rocket - the Falcon Heavy.

Instead, Mr Musk has chose to put his old sportscar on the top of the Falcon Heavy.

However, two days later Musk confirmed the February 6 launch date, while Chris Gerbhardt, assistant managing editor, journalist, and writer for @NASASpaceflight, said the 7th would be a back-up day. Now only remains certain mandatory tests of the rocket and the pad systems for making sure that they are working as expected after certain months of inactivity. Falcon 9 is powered by nine cone-shaped engines attached to a reusable booster. It has also been in development for quite some time now.

The Falcon 9 is regularly utilized for the goal of hoisting space station cargo and satellites. Meant to eventually ferry to Mars, the Falcon Heavy could carry up to 37,000 pounds to the Red Planet.

The rocket's first passenger will be Musk's own red auto.

"I love the thought of a vehicle drifting apparently endlessly through space and perhaps being discovered by an alien race millions of years in the future", Musk replied when asked on Twitter why he wanted to throw away a $100,000 electric sportscar. That's been customary ever since a Falcon 9 exploded during a 2016 practice engine firing, destroying both rocket and satellite.

Set to be the nightcap of relatively slow January for SpaceX, the rocket company is nearing the end of preparations for the launch of a communications satellite co-owned by SES and the government of Luxembourg, known as GovSat-1/SES-16. "Guaranteed to be exciting, one way or another", he promised.

The 70m-tall Falcon Heavy is created to put up to a maximum of 64 tonnes in low-Earth orbit, although in reality it will be rare that the vehicle lofts this much mass. Capable of carrying a payload of 140,000 pounds into low Earth orbit, the rocket is only beaten by the Saturn V Apollo moon program rocket, which could carry up to 310,000 pounds. Two of the Heavy's three first-stage boosters have flown before. Instead, people are flocking to Florida's Space Coast for the launch (so much so that NASA sold out $195 dollar tickets to a viewing party for the launch with a champagne toast and commemorative glasses) in large part to see what will occur after liftoff: SpaceX will attempt to land all three cores of the enormous rocket's first stage, with two touching down nearly simultaneously on ground-based landing pads, and the center core descending shortly after to land on an autonomous drone ship at sea.

SpaceX is working on an even bigger rocket that would replace the Falcon line.
