Jacob Eason announces transfer from Georgia … without specifying destination

The Georgia gunslinger from nearby Lake Stevens, Wash., hasn't even scratched the surface yet, but learning the system for a year as a transfer would be huge for the Huskies if he were to take over in 2019.

Georgia sophomore QB Jacob Eason will transfer. He didn't specified where he will transfer.

The Huskies are set at quarterback in 2018 when Jake Browning returns for his senior season. In 2016, Eason finished 204-of-370 for 2,430 yards and 16 passing touchdowns. This season, he started game one against Appalachian State before leaving the game with a knee injury. Eason was injured in their 2017 opener and replaced by another true freshman, Jake Fromm, who led the Bulldogs to the SEC Championship and locked up the starting job for 2018 and beyond. When his knee healed, quarterback Jake Fromm was playing well enough to where the coaches decided not to go back to Eason.

Eason came to Georgia as a heralded five-star recruit and Gatorade National Player of the Year. Georgia's third quarterback, at least for now, will be walk-on Stetson Bennett, who redshirted this past season while working with the scout team.

"I've understood my role as a backup quarterback to be ready at any given time and to prepare the team as best I can", Eason said in an interview before the Rose Bowl Game. That was confirmed Friday by someone close to Eason. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, he really bonded with Fromm and worked hard to help him prepare for the games.

"Going to sit down with my family and figure that out", Eason told the Times after Georgia lost 26-23 in overtime to Alabama.

Eason didn't indicate where he intends to play next, but The Seattle Times reported this week that he is expected to transfer to Washington.
