Oakland Raiders Next Year's Super Bowl Odds Improve to 20/1

Mike Mularkey jokingly admits to interrogating Logan Ryan about Patriots

Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis and general manager Reggie McKenzie held a press conference yesterday to introduce Jon Gruden as the new head coach of the Raiders.

Gruden was introduced Tuesday in front of a large crowd that included almost 50 former Raiders and nine Pro Football Hall of Famers as the coach Davis believes can carry Derek Carr and the Raiders back to the top.

While there might be room for Lynch's production on Gruden's Raiders - and if Lynch is as big a Raiders fan as he professes, he surely had to be a Chucky fan as a teenager during Gruden's first run, no? - is there room for Beast Mode's personality? There's no doubt the game has changed since Gruden's last coaching stint ended with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008. "Because I felt that there was a lot of regression, obviously, on the offensive side of the ball". I am not a real deep, philosophical person. Now, it's unfinished business for the former ESPN Analyst. "I feel a lot of loyalty and responsibility to get the Raiders going again".

Like I said, it's going to be fascinating to watch it all unfold. The Raiders were staying in Sarasota, Fla., between games at Buffalo and Miami, and Davis went to seek counsel on how to fix a once-promising season gone awry. I think he loves the Raiders.

"I love the city of Oakland", Gruden said.

"We're going to have to look at our roster carefully", he said.

Keep in mind, Lynch was the Raiders' best offensive player the second half of the season, and it's not like they have a lead running back ready to plug in should Lynch either hang his cleats over the power line again or get cut.

No one used the G-word in regard to Carr this season, when the Raiders were 6-10 and their $125 million leader regressed from the 2016 campaign that earned him such lifetime security. Gruden didn't delve much into the Raiders' upcoming move to Las Vegas or how his offense might look, but he was infinitely more engaging than Jack Del Rio ever was. "The fact that you got a leading man here now who has a passion for Oakland, which is important and wants to take the Raiders to a new level". So when the Raiders said that they complied with the Rooney Rule by interviewing Tee Martin and Bobby Johnson, they were really just covering their posteriors.

"We need to get through this day, lock the doors and get to work", he said.

"I don't have a guarantee to be alive for 10 years, just so people know", Gruden said.

In response to the question, Lockhart said he didn't know the answer to the question off the top of his head, and that he'd get back to me.

"The system we're going to put in place is going to demand a lot from him, and I think that's what's going to unlock the greatness in him. [I'm] very, very excited to have him as our quarterback". Gruden dealt with Al Davis back then, with Mark not involved in Raiders operations.

Gruden also has hired former Cincinnati defensive coordinator Paul Guenther and former Dallas special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia for those roles on his new staff.

There has been a video shared around the internet in recent days of when Carr met Gruden during the coach's television "QB Camp" before the 2014 draft. So, you bring in someone who is not famous for working well with others? I just want to give him everything he needs to be successful.
