WhatsApp rolls out business app for growth of small companies

WhatsApp launches 'WhatsApp Business' to target small business

'But WhatsApp was built for people and we want to improve the business experience.

WhatsApp Business is a free Android app which enables users to interact with customers through the service, rather than by email or another form of communication. That's similar to WhatsApp adding green verification badges to select business accounts past year in the standard app. WhatsApp says other users can continue to use the standard app as usual and will still have full control over the messages they receive like blocking numbers and reporting spam. It'll also have WhatsApp Web support, the app's desktop web browser client. "Over time, some businesses will have Confirmed Accounts once it's been confirmed that the account phone number matches the business phone number", WhatsApp said in a statement. It is now launched only in select markets including Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, UK and US. But given that WhatsApp was courteous enough at showing some level of importance towards India in their blog post, we are expecting the app to launch in India in the coming weeks anyway.

You can set quick replies to frequently asked questions, greeting messages to introduce people to your business. WhatsApp Business, however, is meant to open a new channel of communication between businesses and their customers. Owned by Facebook, the platform-agnostic messaging platform will perhaps charge larger firms to use the new business application.

Moreover, approximately 80 percent of small businesses in India and Brazil say WhatsApp helps them both communicate with customers and grow their business today.

WhatsApp announced plans to begin allowing business accounts hoping to make more profit for their corporate parent, Facebook. Over the time and after certain verification, the app will get you a confirmed account, which further inspires confidence.

WhatsApp Business is now available to small business owners in the U.S., the U.K., Mexico Italy and Indonesia.
