Senate Republican report alleges Federal Bureau of Investigation bias against Trump

Rep. Peter King: The FBI Duped FISA Court to Obtain Warrants Against Trump Officials

Other text messages in the Senate report, some of which have been previously released, show Strzok and Page expressing strongly negative opinions about Donald Trump and the prospect he'd become president.

Strzok was the lead FBI agent on both the agency's investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server and alleged collusion between Donald Trump and Russian Federation.

"POTUS wants to know everything we're doing", Page, an FBI lawyer, told Strzok, a counterintelligence operative, in a September 2, 2016, text message referring to former FBI Director James Comey's preparations to brief Obama on the Clinton probe's progress.

They were released Wednesday by the Senate Homeland Security Committee in a report, "The Clinton Email Scandal and the FBI's Investigation of It". "Figure I need to brush up on Watergate".

Some Republicans have in the past called for the appointment of a second special counsel to investigate their concerns, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions has indicated he would at least consider that idea.

"These texts raise questions about the FBI's retention of records associated with its investigation".

Page, the Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer, also served on Mueller's investigative team, but by the time Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz's probe uncovered her text messages with Strzok, she had returned to other duties at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

According to Fox News, the newly revealed Strzok-Page texts also have the FBI officials bashing the "ignorant [hillbillies]" who voted against then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe's wife in her 2015 bid for a Virginia Senate seat. We have a strict line, and always have maintained it, previous president.

Page's meaning here is unclear, but Senate investigators say, coupled with Strzok's August 15 text about an "insurance policy", further investigation is warranted to find out what actions the two may have taken.

While it's not clear which investigation Page was referring to in the text, it looks bad for Obama because he had forcefully claimed throughout 2016 that he does not get involved with pending investigations. "Please don't ever text me again", she wrote.

The Associated Press has also reviewed the thousands of text messages.

"For me, and this case, I personally have a sense of unfinished business", Strzok wrote.

Strzok and Page were both heavily involved in the email investigation as well as the Russian Federation collusion investigation.

"In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation".

Over the course of their two-year extramarital affair, Strzok and Page exchanged some 50,000 text messages. The report included numerous messages between Strzok and Page, but noted that they "do not provide a full and complete picture" and that "further investigation and inquiry is necessary". The committee made them available for public consumption, Fox News first reported early Wednesday.
