Sergio Garcia directs geese off golf course at Honda Classic

Brian Harman has been in superb form

- Describing it as his best ballstriking round in his admittedly brief comeback, Tiger Woods overcame a double bogey to shoot even-par 70 during the first round of the Honda Classic at PGA National. From there, he laid up to 150 yards, knocked a 6-iron in a greenside bunker, played onto the fringe, chipped 4 feet by the hole and missed his bogey putt.

"I played hard today; it was difficult out there", Woods said after his round. Harrington believes Woods might have more than his 79 victories on the PGA Tour and his 14 majors. But two bogeys on his last four holes knocked him back to 3 under.

"I'm starting to get that feeling again of playing tournament golf, where you know each and every shot counts", Woods said Wednesday after his pro-am round. 'I had to try and put the ball in the correct spots and there's interesting putts out there for us. Based on early weather forecasts, that trend will likely continue as the first two rounds could play around 20 miles per hour. Before, you're at home, who cares where the wind is coming from; who cares what the forecast is the next couple days. "It's tournament reps. And I need tournament reps". I've missed it and it's becoming familiar again.

In his first start of 2018, at Torrey Pines, Woods made the cut on the number and finished tied for 23rd despite hitting only 17-of-56 fairways and 42-of-72 greens.

He's tempered his expectations, especially considering the lengthy absence. En route to missing the cut at Riviera, he hit just 13-of-28 fairways and 16-of-36 greens in regulation. "Some of those putts were a little bit bouncy". "I'm still learning what that feels like under the gun". He had to hit every conceivable shot Thursday, to shape it both ways, high and low, and he executed almost every one of them. I can't create the same angles that I used to be able to create naturally.

Woods got off to clean start except for one visit to the concession stands.

Justin Thomas and Sweden's Alex Noren are among a quartet sharing the lead midway through the first round of the Honda Classic in Florida. But he said he's not feeling rushed in his return to the game and journey to Magnolia Lane.

The PGA Tour is really in full swing with the players finish up the swing out west and head south to Florida to start the southern stretch of tournaments heading toward Augusta in early April.

"I'm just waiting for everything to come together; I've seen enough good things in my game over the past few weeks to know that it's not far away". "If you were used to hitting shots at an 8 and now you're hitting it like Tiger - a 9 out of 10 - you'd be loving it".

"I'm looking forward to just kind of progressing, just keep playing, keep playing tournaments and get everything kind of situated headed to April", he said. "I'd like to think that I'm a healthy person, working out, I love eating healthy".
