The North said that it wants the flag to show Dokdo.

Peters has a silver medal from the Sochi Games in 2014 and said he was overwhelmed to be given the honour of leading the team out.

The IPC banned Russian Federation in 2016 after revelations of a widespread and highly orchestrated doping scandal.

"With a good degree of confidence, we can say that these athletes competing here are as clean as any other athletes competing in these games", Parsons told a press conference in Pyeongchang.

However, the IPC ban will remain in place until its full list of criteria is met, including the reinstatement of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency by WADA.
