The Turpins have been jailed in lieu of $9 million each after being accused of torture and child endangerment. Early Sunday, a 17-year-old girl was able to escape from the house with a cell phone, and called 911. The Turpins filed for bankruptcy in 2011, stating in court documents they owed between 100,000 dollars (£72,500) and 500,000 dollars (£362,000), The New York Times reported. (more...)

Randy Clinton was reportedly shot by McCall while searching with the K-9 team, shortly after 1 a.m. Additional shots were fired from the suspect at 3:31 a.m. and officers returned fire. As of 1:43 p.m., both sides of I-65 were shut down between mile marker 41 and 50, and officials were allowing the fire to burn itself out. Eastbound lanes remained closed almost the entire day, only reopening sometime after 8 p.m. The collision caused a hazardous chemical to spill on the road. A passenger in one of the vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. (more...)
