South Korea's navy said it was conducting a live-fire exercise with US destroyers in waters west of the Korean peninsula and would soon join the carrier strike group approaching the region. South Korea's defence ministry could not immediately confirm the report. The port call by the USS Michigan came as a US aircraft carrier strike group steamed toward Korean waters and as top envoys for North Korea policy from South Korea, Japan and the United States met in Tokyo. Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa has told FBI Director James Comey at the start of an oversight hearing that the public's faith in the bureau had been tested lately. Comey said he didn't publicly disclose the FBI investigation into the Clinton emails until it was closed last summer. He told the hearing: "To restart, in a huge way, potentially finding her emails that would reflect on her intent from the beginning and not speak about it would require an act of concealment, in my view". The "de-escalation zones" to be established in Syria will be closed to military aircraft from the US -led coalition, the Russian official who signed the new agreement said Friday.
