The company has scheduled news conferences at factories in Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Bay City, Michigan. There are 2,643 workers - 2,271 hourly and 372 salaried - at the Spring Hill facility. Wednesday's announcement has no impact on the production stoppage, officials said. The Case-Shiller report is an oft-watched and slightly unusual measure of what's happening in the market because it compares resales of the same property to track values during a three-month period. The pace of home price increases has slowed somewhat, but there are wide variations across the country. Portland, Ore., with prices up 11.9 percent, and Seattle, with an 11 percent gain, were the cities with the biggest gains. (more...)
