Giraffe watch: April remains 'happy, big and beautiful'

On Feb 15, the Inquisitr was first to report on April the giraffe. Watch the live stream below. April's condition remains the same: happy, big and handsome. Oliver, April's partner is five. Veterinarians at Animal Adventure Park has been posting daily updates on their Facebook page. Once born, April's calf is expected to be approximately six feet tall at birth and weigh about 150 pounds. (more...)

April has been with Animal Adventure Park since September 2015 and this is her first calf birth at the park. More than 200,000 people watch April the pregnant giraffe's live stream on YouTube at any given time, but some started to get frustrated since Animal Adventure Park, the zoo where she is housed, claimed she was ready to start giving birth to her baby weeks ago. It was unclear how long the kids had been in distress before the hotel employees discovered them, opened the doors to the area to bring in fresh air and called 911. It's unclear if there is a carbon monoxide detector in the hotel's pool area. Rescuers quickly managed to get her fully conscious and she was able to walk outside to an ambulance. (more...)

Employers in education and health services led the hiring in February, adding 6,300 jobs over the month. The rate for metro Atlanta in January 2015 was 5.2 percent. Statewide, 675,550 were employed and 19,350 unemployed in February for a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 694,850. Piggy Bank's shell was cracked, swollen and infected when she was found, leaving her rescuers anxious that she had a tumour. Veterinarian Nantarika Chansue removed the coins March 6 in an seven-hour operation March 7. Vet Nantarika Chansue told local media: "At 10:10am she went with peace". She was about 25 years old. Five surgeons from Chulalongkorn University's veterinary faculty removed the coins over four hours while the turtle was anaesthetised. (more...)

Overall Lucas County's civilian labor force - which tallies people working or actively searching for work - grew by 2,300 to 210,700. Employment was up more than 10,000 jobs in January compared with the same time a year ago. The number of unemployed rose to 13,000 in January, up from 12,300 in January, 2016. Once you're exposed to the virus, it can take an average of 16 to 18 days for symptoms to set in, although some infections can cause very mild symptoms, or no symptoms at all. The health agency has supplied vaccines to Chapman University. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone receive two doses of MMR during childhood. (more...)

For a cat to even have the parasite in their symptoms, they must have eaten contaminated raw meat or an infected mouse (which means indoor cats would find it hard to ingest the parasite in the first place).
